Well. Recitation
This poem was a personal challenge for myself. I wanted to insert a secret message within the poem (can you figure out what it is?), while simultaneously trying to convey that message without outright saying it. I had to imagine myself in a time where I was secretly in love with someone who I was not ready to confess to yet.
Either way, it was a joy to write this poem and I hope you guys enjoy my recitation of it.
Well.
i won’t admit it
I dream of holding you close to me, skin to skin.
Longing for your touch, i ask myself do i live up to my name?
Over distances cut short, i imagine your life where your time belonged to me instead.
Voices swim, the sound brings the calm. each time you speak a wall comes down.
Echoes tend to bounce on my skin, i am a trampoline for impossible ideas.
Yet while resting i like to imagine
Our future in my head
“Us” doesn’t seem that far.
i won’t admit it. not yet.
